WAVEFORM TODAY
Waveform Ceramics is an art classroom and pottery studio in Oakland, California that specializes in beginners, with a focus on body awareness, mindfulness and having fun.
Waveform was born in owner-operator Caty’s garage in 2022 after they left a remote job during the pandemic. They converted the space into a clay classroom with the goal of connecting with others through art and sharing their passion for clay in motion! The studio has grown and found a home in North Oakland at Lowell Street Studios.
Some come to Waveform for a new experience, others are looking for one-on-one coaching to deepen what they already know, others come to decompress and unplug. A chill studio with small classes means that Waveform can tailor each session to your experience and goals.
ABOUT CATY
Owner-operator and lead teacher Catherine Monahon — Caty, Cath, Mx. Frizzle — is an artist and audio storyteller with a passion for continuous learning, accessibility and musicals. They have been captivated by clay in motion since 13.
Since opening Waveform in 2022, Caty has worked with over 2,000 students and has loved learning how to be a better instructor for a range of abilities, learning styles and personalities. They believe that creative practices are powerful therapeutic tools; their teaching style is informed by trauma-aware facilitation, neuroscience and open communication with clients.
