Team-Building Workshops

Team building happens naturally in the art studio. Waveform specializes in beginners, with an emphasis on having fun and celebrating different learning styles. Trying a craft, like pottery, is a practice in presence, determination, acceptance and playfulness. Creative practices can help us let go of expectations and be present. You may see yourself, and your team, with fresh eyes. Take an opportunity to discover one another’s gifts and appreciate your team in new ways!

Meet your instructor

Caty Monahon, the owner of Waveform Ceramics, is a lifelong art educator with a teaching style is a combination of supportive (I’m here for you) and empowering (fiddle around and find out). Caty creates a healthy balance of connection and space.

Waveform’s art classroom is:

  • Introvert-approved and playfully social

  • Validating of the range of emotions that come up when learning something new and making art (anxiety, frustration, excitement, confusion, joy)

  • Curious about learning styles & accommodations

  • Musical, calming and energizing (fire playlists, nostalgic bops and soothing sounds)

Reflecting on the day…

  • “I felt more connected to the group.”

  • “We were comfortable being ourselves. It was fun!”

  • “It was interesting seeing process-focused teammates be more creative.”

  • “I was surprised to find myself feeling calm with just the clay and my thoughts. At one point everyone was quiet in their own world...tapping into our creative sides, letting go of being problem solvers.”

  • “Your hands doing an activity frees up your brain and distracts you from your normal way of being.”
